Technical Support Specialist

Our products are used for the measurement of oil and gas quantities at major pipelines and terminals worldwide, and our team of Technical Support Specialists is responsible for the delivery of class-leading support and customer satisfaction.

Through the use of email and telephone, the Technical Support Specialist helps customers resolve their issues on a variety of electronic equipment. In addition to general product support, this position may be involved in more detailed investigative testing in cooperation with our engineering and development teams.

Note: We are currently looking for multiple Technical Support Specialists, ranging in experience level.

Job
Responsibilities

  • Answer customer inquiries concerning systems operation. Recommend or perform minor remedial actions to correct problems based on knowledge of system operation.
  • Discuss and verify with customer the assignments of electrical supply wires, signal, wires and related relay connections, modem, printer, cables, etc. Perform corrections to the configuration of application firmware and software. Ensure that all hardware and software are installed and configured according to specifications. Verify with customer that electrical power and electrical signals are reaching flow computer and that voltage and current are as specified.
  • Discuss with and direct customer in problem-solving communications to resolve problems associated with communications devices, including use of serial and Ethernet cables.
  • Devise, select, set up, and operate electronic instrumentation used for testing operational electronic equipment such as flow computers. Identify customer application software and hardware problems and translate test data for hardware and software engineering to formulate design modification and operating decisions.
  • Configure flow computers and related equipment, such as remote terminal units and programmable controllers, applying knowledge of electronics, electrical circuits, and programming in accordance with manuals, schematic diagrams, and blueprints.

Experience
and Skills

  • Background in industrial measurement and control.
  • Working experience with energy industry standards related to flow metering devices and sensors, including the following:
    • Flow meters
    • Provers
    • Transmitters
  • Working experience configuring, installing, or troubleshooting the following:
    • Metering control systems
    • PLC, SCADA, DCS, and RTU
    • Data communications, including Ethernet/TCP, TCP/IP, Serial, and Modbus
  • Experience using test equipment, including the following:
    • 4‑20mA loop
    • Frequency generators
    • Oscilloscopes
    • RTD calibrators
    • Voltmeters

Education
Requirements

Associate's degree (AA) or equivalent from an accredited two-year college or technical school plus 2 years of industrial electronics experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience in an industrial electronics discipline.

Important
Notes

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or green card holder and reside in the Houston metro area.
  • Must have a valid Texas driver's license and clean driving record.
  • Must be able to get a TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) within 90 days of hire.

Additional
Information

  • May participate in after-hours standby rotation schedule for providing support to customers who may have an emergency situation and require immediate technical support.
  • This position is based on a minimum 40‑hour workweek and is an exempt position. Special projects and deadlines may require longer hours in excess of the minimum.
